It has taken many years for bamboo to emerge from the shadow of the major plantation tree species, but it has at last taken a more central position due in part to wider appreciation of its merits and more importantly a better understanding of its worth to a different community of people.
Bamboo is grown and nurtured by rural communities or simply harvested from natural stands in ways that have been refined and determined over the centuries.
NRBM is an autonomous organization formed in 2015 under the prestigious guidance of Mr.Ratan Tata. NRBMRI in addition to its exceptional authorities is supported by Micro Small & Medium Enterprises(MSME), Tribal Research & Training Institute, Maharashtra Forest Department, TATA Trusts, Bamboo Tourism/Management, Training & National Agrotech.
National Rural Bamboo Mission and Research Institute has been working since 2015 in Vidharbh region. In the Vidharbha’s rural region still there are unemployed youth and women living below poverty line. Their lack of literacy and skill are the major reason for their unemployment.
Giving them right Skill to generate the income source is one of the missions of NRBMRI. In this region bamboo which abundant in quantity can easily generate higher income, so empowerment of the bamboo cluster in Vidharbh region will change the scenario and will help to generate self-employment in the backward communities of people and uplift the standard of living. And hence NRBMRI working by purposeful activity to generate self-employment and to spread the importance of bamboo among people.
To change the perception of bamboo and start a scientific discussion on the production of bamboo made artifacts (Bioethanol, Fuel Paddles). To unify the scientific and agricultural community towards a common goal of making India an international market for bamboo, thereby, creating employment. This will strengthen the rural population and improve their economy.
Our vision is to equalize the farmer’s and scientist’s contributions towards society and to make a sustainable trend out of the bamboo industry. We are working to maximize the production of bamboo in India.To improve upon usage by inculcating science in craftsmanship. To educate the future generations coming from an agricultural background.
